Hi.

This summer I went to Vancouver Island and I saw this very big tree. It is over 800 years old, 76 meters tall and 9 meters round.

That's me standing in front of the Big Tree. Another tree that fell over in a wind storm is in front of it.

It is in a place called Cathedral Grove which is part of MacMillan Provincial Park between Nanaimo and Tofino on the very western coast of Canada. See if you can find it on a map.
It is of a species called Douglas-fir.

This tree was already 300 years old when Christopher Columbus came to North America in 1492.

Some people are upset that big old tress are being cut down. What do you think?

I'm glad there are still a few things around that are older than me.
